The Secret of Monkey Island… It’s in New Zealand
I’ve discovered the Secret of Monkey Island. It’s in New Zealand. I found this sign on my recent trip there and nearly made my tour group detour to Monkey Island. They didn’t really understand my insane shouting about Monkey Island and Guybrush Threepwood but I’m sure you will.
Alternatively you can see Monkey Island on Google Maps, so wherever you live, you can get directions there. Saves trying to navigate the Monkey Head lava puzzle.

A couple of kilometers further to the north is McCrackens Rest.
There’s also a Monkey Island in Currituck Sound, NC and then in South Carolina is Morrington Island, nicknamed Monkey Island, that is populated with wild monkeys after a science lab incident gone horribly awry!

No one understood me either when on a road trip and we passed a Stuckeys and I started prattling on about a canine shamus and hyper-kinetic rabbity thing called Sam and Max from their own road trip in a book called “Sam and Max: Surfing the Highway.” I thought I was gonna pass out from awesome!
